The DRI seeks to cooperate with other institutions and supports other initiatives related to the DRI vision & mission.
The German Association for Applied Sciences (Deutsche Gesellschaft für angewandte Wissenschaften, DGAW) promotes interdisciplinary research and regular information exchange between theory and practical application in order to better use scientific results in political, economic and scientific decision making and to detect early trends in developing new and sustainable solutions towards the promotion of public interest. The DRI and the DGAW cooperate in that regard since 2015.
DRI and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) cooperate in the area of humanitarian education in the framework of the IFRC initiative Humanitarian Education Learning Portal (HELP).
In 2014, DRI and the Sigmund Freud Privatuniversität, Vienna, Austria, entered into a five year research cooperation agreement
In 2014, DRI and the Global Ethic Initiative Austria (Initiative Weltethos Österreich) agreed to cooperate to promote the World Ethic Declaration by Prof. Dr. H. Küng and the Universal Declaration of Human Responsibilities by the InterAction Council.
The DRI joined and signed the Global Campaign for the inclusion of 'Culture' in the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals: "Declaration. We believe that culture is both a driver and enabler of sustainable development and that the explicit inclusion of targets and indicators for culture in the Sustainable Development Goals will enable transformative change. [...]. 'Culture' was completely absent from the Millennium Development Goals document. Don't let this happen again."
